Modern concepts in measurements setups and implementation. PC based, networked and virtual instrumentation.

Buses used in instrumentation and  measurement setups and integration. Serial, parallel, GPIB, VXI , PXI. Integration of measurement hardware (plug-in DAQ modules , VXI, PXI chassis)  and PC based signal and data processing.

Characteristics of GPIB communication and protocols used in instruments and PC interconnections

Virtual instrumentation programming languages. Description of HP ( Agilent Technologies) VEE  and National Instrument ( NI ) Labview  graphical configuration and programming languages.

 Virtual instruments ( VI ) graphical configuration and programming in Labview. Structure and characteristics of LabView . Data types supported ( arrays, clusters, graphs). Data flow control. SubVi and hierarchical structure in VI buildup.

Library of Drivers for DAQ modules in Labview to interface PC based virtual instruments with physical environment. Drivers for analogue and digital I/Os , frequency signals and counters.

Laboratory measurements using  PC integrated and PC based virtual instrumentation. Measurement planning, setup , execution of measurements and Lab report generation

Review of  some representative instrumentation and measurement setups created using  PC based LabView  VI and I/O hardware

Multimeter  type  PeakTech 450 is connected with PC using serial RS232 communication channel and driver on PC  side

CONNECTING AND USING 16 CHANNELS LOGIC ANALYZER WITH  PC AND LABVIEW

Hewlett Packard  type HP 54620 C Logic analyzer  with serial  RS232C and GPIB communication is connected to PC , using GPIB controller  on PC side ( NI -  USB/GPIB adapter ). Proprietary driver as well as VIs for integration with LabView used for signal visualisation and processing.

CONNECTING  AND USING 98 CHANNELS LOGIC ANALYZER WITH  PC AND LABVIEW

Hewlett Packard type HP 1671E Logic analyzer with serial RS232C and GPIB communication is connected to PC , using GPIB controller  on PC side ( NI -  USB/GPIB adapter ). Proprietary driver as well as VIs for integration with LabView used for signal visualisation and processing.

 CONNECTING AND USING SPECTRAL ANALYZER WITH PC AND LABVIEW

 

Hewlett Packard type HP 8562E spectral analyzer with serial  RS232C and GPIB communication is connected to PC ,using GPIB controller  on PC side ( NI -  USB/GPIB adapter ). Proprietary driver as well as VIs for integration with LabView used for signal visualisation and processing.

  CONNECTING AND USING  2 CHANNELS OSCILLOSCOPE WITH PC AND LABVIEW

 

Hewlett Packard type HP 54645A two channels osciloscop  with serial  RS232C and GPIB communication is connected to PC , using GPIB controller  on PC side ( NI -  USB/GPIB adapter ). Proprietary driver as well as VIs for integration with LabView used for signal visualisation and processing.

FFT SIGNAL SPECTRUM ANALYSIS WITH HP 54600 OSCILLOSCOPES

HP 54645A  2 channels oscilloscope with installed computing and measurement storage module HP 54657A used as FFT analyzer. Test signals and waveforms for analysis generated using HP 54654 training kit.

CONFIGURATION AND CONNECTION OF  I/O DAQ MODULES WITH PC TO CREATE LABVIEW  VIRTUAL INSTRUMENTS

IoTech  DAQ modules DAQBOARD/200A ,DBK15, DBK 20, DBK 10 with drivers for LabView  software and LabView installed on PC

DAQBOARD/200A based  Data acquisition system with PC and Labview in acquistion of  data from asynchronous machine test stand

IoTech  DAQ modules DAQBOARD/200A ,DBK15, DBK 20, DBK 10 with drivers for LabView  software and LabView installed on PC  acquiring and processing data from asynchronous motor with break test stand

CREATING TEST SETUP INTEGRATION     OF MATLAB-SIMULINK MODELS WITH LABVIEW USING NI-SIT SOFTWARE

NI - Simulation interface toolkit  ( SIT ) is used to interface and enable signal excahnge between MATLAB-SIMULINK models and LABVIEW front panel interface for signal visualisation and processing, either on the same and distributed PC machines.
